So lets say when you start your business, you have a goal to make six figures a year. It takes some time, and despite the setbacks and challenges you achieve it.  

So now what?  

You will likely feel that they can relax and no longer need to work as hard as you were.

This mentality in my opinion is how people can get into trouble.  

Don’t get me wrong, people absolutely have a right to celebrate their success and the fruits of their labor. In fact it is something I very much encourage. Life is too short and we all deserve to live once in a while.

 However while it is important to do this, its also important not to forget where you came from. While you have achieved success in not only making money but fixing your customers problem it is important to always remember time is still going by. It may seem like you have a lot of money now, but what about the future?   With todays medical technology, life expectancy is continuing to climb and many will live until their 80s or even 90+.

Do you think you have enough money to maintain or even expand your existing lifestyle for that long?

Or what about for the next 20-30 years?

 Again, there is nothing wrong with having a life outside of work, in fact its something I very much encourage. However its also important to make sure the scale stays relatively balanced.   Always remember three things.

Where have you been?

Where are you going?
